SEFCO offers calcined clay to INVESTMENT CASTING FOUNDRIES.
Molo sand clay / Molo sand grains / Calcined clay
SEFCO has also taken care and choose the field of “investment casting industries” to cater them with the calcined / molo sand clay. It is an alumino-silicate produced by the calcination of selected kaolins.
The calcination process takes approximately 60 hours, with the product in the main tunnel kiln-firing zone for over 24 hours.A controlled time and temperature schedule heats Molo sand to a peak temperature of 1525°C, thus ensuring stability, consistency and uniformity to the product.
Calcination converts the clay minerals into a mixture of mullite crystals and amorphous siliceous glass, with no crystalline silica.
The low, uniform thermal expansion rate of Molo sand gives it excellent resistance to thermal shock, while flat and rough surface texture of the particles gives excellent keying properties for all the most diffused bonding systems.
Molo sand grains
Molo sand is the standard back-up refractory material in the production of Investment Casting shell moulds for equiax casting. A wide range of sized grades, carefully de-dusted, ranging from the very fine 50-80 to the 16-30 or 8-16 is used as stucco in the investment process.
Molo sand flours
Molo sand flours (Molo sand –200 and –120) are used as filler in the production of investment slurries and offer outstanding properties in term of stability and consistency for both water and alcohol based systems.
